Dr. Diaa Hussein believes that overweight is a public health problem that should be addressed by physicians. Dr. Hussein developed his knowledge and refined his skills in the treatment of overweight.
Dr. Hussein is board certified in Family Practice and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Society of Bariatric Physicians.
A native of Cairo, Egypt, Dr. Hussein received his medical degree from Cairo University in 1978. He completed a one-year rotating internship in Cairo University Hospitals.
He was awarded a scholarship to Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans and was granted a Master of Public Health degree in August of 1983.
Dr. Hussein pursued his career in Public Health and Community Medicine. He headed the Preventive Medicine Department, Armed Forces Hospitals Southern Region in Saudi Arabia from 1985 to 1992.
In 1992, Dr. Hussein returned to the United Stated to complement his Public Health experience with training in Family Practice. He completed a one-year internship at Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia and a three-year residency in Family Practice at Somerset Medical Center in New Jersey.
Dr. Hussein served at the Family Care Centers in Fries and Galax in Virginia from July 1996 to June 2000. He had his private practice “Your Doctor’s Care” in Galax from July of 2000 to February of 2002.
Dr. Hussein worked in Drexel Medical Practice in Drexel, NC, from March of 2002 to June of 2004.
In July 2004, Dr. Hussein started his private practice “Greenway Family Practice” in Morganton, NC.
